ELIGIBILITY AND SELECTION CRITERIA

We are inviting research submissions that showcase allied health research that is linked to the Government’s policy priorities and is ready to be translated into policy.
Successful submissions will be delivered in a 10-minute format with time for questions.

WHAT IS 'POLICY-READY RESEARCH?'

We are inviting research submissions that showcase allied health research that is linked to the Government’s policy priorities and ready to be translated into policy. For the purposes of this forum, we are interested in submissions that meet the following criteria:

  • Be completed research; excludes research in progress
  • Provides clear, concise evidence that links the researched intervention to an improvement (e.g. in outcomes, efficiencies, experiences)
  • Considers practical implementation aspects (e.g. available funding levers, regulation mechanisms, education and communication, workforce availability)
  • Justifies how the outcomes are applicable to one or more national or jurisdictional policy priorities in primary care:
    • Strengthening Medicare
      • Multidisciplinary care
      • Urgent Care Clinics
    • Chronic disease management
    • Innovative models of care that improve access to allied health services, particularly in rural and remote areas
    • Advanced, extended and expanded scope of practice
    • Workforce and demand management models

Research does not need to have been conducted in a primary care setting to be eligible. Submissions will be considered so long as applicants demonstrate how the findings are applicable to one or more of the identified policy priorities and in a primary care setting.

Successful submissions will be delivered in a 10-minute format with time for questions. Abstracts must be submitted using the provided web form and be within the specified word limit.

All eligible submissions will be reviewed by an external review panel. Successful applicants will be notified by 15 March 2024.

SUB-HEADINGS AND WORD COUNT

The submission form includes three subheadings – ‘Abstract’, ‘Outcomes’ and ‘Policy implications for real-world implementation’. These must be completed and together must not exceed a total of 300 words. Word count and content guidelines for each section are provided in the form.

ABSTRACT REVIEW AND NOTIFICATION

Abstracts will be reviewed by the Department of Health and Aged Care and an external review panel according to the selection criteria. Abstracts will be de-identified before review.  Successful applicants will be notified by email by 15 March 2024.
