ADELAIDE CONVENTION CENTRE - VENUE INFORMATION



The National Forum will be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

The Forum will be held on the lands of the Kaurna people.

The Convention Centre is located on North Terrace. This is in the middle of Adelaide’s Riverbank Precinct.

ACCESSIBILITY AND SAFETY

Adelaide Convention Centre is an accessible venue.

They have developed an accessible social story guide, you may find helpful when attending venue.

Mobility and physical access

There is:
  • Accessible drop off and pick up point on North Terrace
  • Plaza Access Ramp, escalator and lift option for access from North Terrace to the East Building entrance
  • Accessible car parking spaces on every level of both North Terrace and Riverbank carparks
  • Accessible bathrooms in all event areas
  • Wheelchair-friendly seating options in session rooms 
  • Wide concourses suitable for mobility devices

A limited number of wheelchairs are available for day hire at the Adelaide Convention Centre. 

This service is free for those attending the Forum.

Sensory and communication support

  • Infrared hearing assistance systems are available for use at the Forum. Please request this in your registration form, so we can have one ready for you on the day.
  • Assistance animals welcome with designated relief areas that event staff will guide you to on the day.
  • Braille signage throughout all buildings.  
  • Support of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program, with lanyards available if you need one on the day of the event.
  • Quiet space with low lights available on upper level in a Skyway room, accessed by a lift from Foyer E. Event staff on the day will escort you to this room.
  • A dedicated accessible meeting pod that has automatic doors and wheelchair access will be available in the Atrium Foyer.

AMENITIES AND FACILITIES

There are:

  • Accessible and gender-neutral bathroom facilities on every level.
  • Water refill stations located throughout the venue.
  • Free Wi-Fi for Forum delegates. Please ask event staff on the day for the details.

First Aid

There are two dedicated first aid rooms in the Centre’s East and West buildings. 

The Convention Centre also has defibrillators and qualified first aid team members available.


GETTING TO THE VENUE

Drop-off and pick-up

An accessible drop-off and pick-up point is located on North Terrace, in front of the Riverside Centre.

Once you have been dropped off you can use the plaza access ramp, escalator or lift, to go to the Plaza level, and travel straight ahead to the East building entrance.

PARKING

Adelaide Convention Centre runs two carparks. These are the Riverbank and North Terrace carparks. 

These carparks are located directly underneath the Convention Centre. 

The carparks are open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. 

  • Riverbank Car Park is accessed via Festival Drive. It has a height restriction of 1.96 metres on Level 1 and 2 metres on Level 2.  
  • North Terrace Car Park is accessed from North Terrace. It has a height restriction of 2 metres
  • Accessible car parking spaces are on every level. 
  • Both carparks are fitted with video surveillance camera systems, with regular security patrols. 

The best carpark to use for the Forum is North Terrace.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT OPTIONS

Adelaide has buses, trains and trams. They all have boarding ramps which can be used if needed. 

The Adelaide Metro website has more information about timetables, and their Access and Disability page contains information about the support options available.  

Tram:

  • The free city tram stops directly outside the Convention Centre. Catch the tram to the North Terrace stop.

Train:

  • Adelaide Railway Station is approximately a 3 to 5 minute walk from the Convention Centre.

Bus:

  • There are multiple bus routes stops on North Terrace and King William Road.
  • Most of these stops are within 2 to 5 minutes walking distance.

Taxi and rideshare

Taxis can be booked for pick-up or drop-off at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

A taxi rank is right in front of the Convention Centre’s main entrance off North Terrace.


CONVENTION CENTRE ENTRANCE / CHECK-IN LOCATION

The Adelaide Convention Centre has 3 connected buildings. They are the East, Central, and West buildings. 

The Forum will be in the East building. Check-in for the Forum will be in Foyer E

Event staff and signs will guide you to all the Forum spaces.

Where to go to check-in

Once you arrive, you can go through the Plaza area to the East building entrance, which has a large yellow sign saying East.

Enter the building into the Atrium Foyer, then go to the back of this Foyer.

Foyer E is located to the right at the back of the Atrium Foyer.

The Forum event staff will greet you there and help you through the check-in process.
